Comments: The Puritan Statue (By St Gaudens)was commissioned by the CHAPIN family and donated to the city of Springfield,Mass. This statue has been copied. One is in Penn. and the other in Luxenbourge Gallery in Paris. The Original was unvieled on Thanksgiving Day 1887 in Stearns Park,Springfield,Mass. It stands today in front of Springfields Public Library. The statue is in memory of DEACON SAMUEL CHAPIN bornOct 8,1598 Paignton,Devon.England husband of Cicely Penny. He Died Nov 11 1675 Springfield,Hampden,Mass. He was one of the early founders of Springfield . *According to several reference books I've read all Chapins in this country are descended from him . Am working on information regarding a Chapin family from either NY or Mass.. I know a name "Leon Chapin" and I have a letter stating that this family has provided a governer and a presidential candidate. Unfortunately I don't know when...or who. Yet.

Noyes Family..

But who? Might not even be part of the Noyes I was looking up.

The gentleman in the centre of the photograph was a plate layer on the Staines to Wokingham railway lane
