1674 - June 3, the First Congregrational Church of Stonington (Road Church) was officially established with nine members - Rev. James Noyes, Thomas Stanton, Sr. and Jr., Nathaniel Chesebrough, Thomas Miner, and his son Ephraim, the brothers Nehemiah and Moses Palmer, and Thomas Wheeler. In September Mr. Noyes was ordained minister of the Gospel.
